Sleep Study FAQ

How long is the sleep study?

Typically, lights out is at 11:00 pm. It may be a few minutes earlier or later. Lights on procedure, begins at 5:30 am. Please advise your technician if you need to be woken earlier.

Do people actually sleep with all of these wires and belts?

YES, once the lights are out you may sleep in various positions. If you are an active sleeper your sleep tech may have to enter your room to reapply or adjust the equipment.

Using the washroom during the night

If you need to use the washroom during the night, all you have to do is say your name and give a wave.  Your sleep tech will then come in and unhook the necessary wires.

Can I use an electronic device (cell phone, tablet, laptop)?

You are permitted to use electronic devices prior to lights out. Once lights out all electronic devices must be powered off as they may interfere with the sleep equipment.  Ask your sleep technician for the number you can give family members to contact you in case of an emergency.
